1-. HOW TO CREATE AND EXPORT YOUR TRACKS FOR STEM MASTERING
First, make sure that, for the export process, there is no plugin inserted in the Master channel. All dynamics, EQ, and FX processes must be on the same tracks or their respective group channels.
Without changing volumes, plugins or automations, export or print your tracks as you normally would, each stem with all its effects and reverbs. To do this, you could activate the SOLO option of the track to export or use the export option by tracks, depending on your DAW.
The Master output level should be roughly around -6dB Peak.
Your files should be at the same resolution and sample rate as your source files. The most standard option is to create a 24-bit 44.1kHz session and keep the same settings when exporting.
All stereo files resulting from the export must have the same starting point.
2-. HOW TO NAME AND ORGANIZE THE STEMS IN YOUR FOLDER
Here's an example of how to organize and name your files correctly:
STEM - Kick
STEM - Snare
STEM - Percussion (the rest of your drums without the airs)
STEM - Cymbals (crashes, splashes and rides)
STEM - Bassline
STEM - Sub Bass
STEM - Synths
STEM - Guitar, Keys or 2nd Synth
STEM - Vocals (acapella, vox FX, chops)
STEM - FX, white noise, synth FX, drums FX or others
FULL MIX - Reference for mastering
After creating your stems, open a new session in your DAW and import them. Listen to the session to make sure for yourself that it sounds the same and that all tracks and effects are included. Try not to skip this step, it is the only way to ensure that you have not made any mistakes when exporting.
Name your file folder as follows: Song_Artist [STEMS]
Name the files as follows: Drums_Canción.wav
Important: About .zip and .rar. Do not compress your files individually, they may be at risk of being damaged. Instead, compress the folder that includes your files.
